Transport and Mobility

Mobility is a cornerstone of a well-functioning modern society. The transport and mobility sector is undergoing a major technological shift—driven by digitalisation, sustainability demands, and increasing regulation. These forces present both challenges and opportunities for stakeholders across the industry.

The transport sector of the future must deliver high efficiency while embracing standardisation and sustainable solutions, in order to remain competitive in a market where rapid innovation and new entrants are disrupting traditional business models. At the same time, authorities are introducing stricter requirements regarding emissions reduction, smart infrastructure, and the regulation of competitive conditions—demands that call for strategic adaptation. Success in this evolving landscape depends on finding the right balance between innovation and regulatory compliance, ensuring both profitability and market position in a rapidly changing industry.

For over 25 years, Arntzen has advised leading mobility companies in sectors including aviation, ferry and bus operations, car import and sales, and public transport. Our specialised lawyers provide strategic and legal advice on mergers and acquisitions, disputes, legislative processes, regulatory engagement, investigations, and commercial contracts.

We have advised leading companies in the transport and automotive sectors across a range of significant matters, including:

  • Torghatten ASA, one of Norway’s largest transport groups, in the transaction where EQT Infrastructure V, through HATI BidCo, made an offer to acquire all outstanding shares in Torghatten ASA. The offer valued Torghatten ASA’s shares at NOK 8.58 billion. Torghatten’s ownership in Widerøe was not included in the transaction with EQT.
  • Widerøe in a range of employment law disputes. Notably, we represented the company before the Supreme Court in a case concerning whether Widerøe had fulfilled its duty to make reasonable accommodations for an employee with reduced work capacity. The Supreme Court unanimously ruled in Widerøe’s favour.
  • Automotive industry: Advising leading market players on the drafting and implementation of dealership agreements, as well as employment law, data security, contractual performance and customer relations – including the handling of both domestic and international disputes.
