Vilde Sinding Engan

Vilde is part of our competition law team and advises our clients on all aspects of competition law. Vilde has experience in advising on mergers and acquisitions, as well as the preparation of competition notifications to the competition authorities in connection therewith. She also advises on all cases of a horizontal and vertical nature, and has experience from cases with national and international competition authorities (ESA).

In addition to working with competition law, Vilde has experience in advising clients in the retail sector, including but not limited to marketing law, trademark law, law on consumer purchases and contract law. Vilde has particular experience in advising on competition law aspects of vertical relationships such as franchising.

Vilde holds a master's degree in law from the University of Oslo where she specialized in the profile "market, innovation and competition". Her master thesis is about algorithmic collusion.

Banking sector under the spotlight as the Norwegian Competition Authority launches its first sector inquiry

On 27 May 2026, the Norwegian Competition Authority announced that it was launching a sector inquiry into banking services. The inquiry will focus on the level of competition between banks, including in relation to conditions for deposits and residential mortgages. In its press release, the Authority emphasised the importance of ensuring effective competition in a market with such major implications for consumers, noting that even small differences in interest rates may amount to several thousand Norwegian kroner per year for an individual household.
